Description
Normally, in this view from the walkway to the pier , you would see a perfectly flat sandy beach to the water's edge. The foreground is a huge 10 foot high sand dune that runs from near the pier and goes east over the entire beach area for 2 miles. The unnatural dune was formed by massive Autumn lake waves and winds that scoured the beach and lake bed sand up into a snaking sand mound that blocks the normal lake view. It was also caused by the lack of lake ice to block the surging waves during our mild, snowless Winter The area is known for the regular sand dunes that run at the back of the beach areas along the southern shoreline. I took the cold , sandy view toward the Lighthouse Pier from the 8 foot high concrete walkway with my little Fuji Finepix S2000HD digital camera in lens zooming mode, for the composition ;on last Christmas Eve day.
