About this Group
Greetings to new members to our group and and much appreciation to those who have been participating in the group for a while.
In The Beautiful Picturesque Landscape group, a picturesque landscape is defined in a more traditional manner, and land (hills and mountains, natural stone or rock structures, forests, sand, fields, and/or slot canyons and caves) should compose approximately half or more of the image. While water, waterfalls, buildings, animals, and people may be included in the image, they should only play a minor part in the scene and not be the focus of the image. There are numerous other groups sponsored by FineArtAmerica that are for cityscapes, waterscapes, macro-images, abstract images, individual flowers, trees, close-ups of people or animals, etc. Additionally, images submitted to the group should not be framed or include added written text.
Members of this group continue to enter high quality art for review, and I have the privilege of featuring large numbers of pieces of work submitted by them. I do, however, continue to have to remove a number of wonderful images that might be best entered in another group. Most of those removed had little or no relationship to the guidelines of the group, some were framed, and a few contained written text.
The group is not for snapshots or general photos or paintings of places, but rather for those images imbued with a sense of special character or extraordinary beauty. Featured images should evoke a response in the viewer (in this case, me) such as “WOW!!!”
Be certain to adhere to good taste, and keep images in the realm of family viewing. All media including photo paintings and drawings are welcome, however, abstracts, fractals, and works not recognizable as a landscapes will not be accepted.
I do not submit my personal work to the group, as I would prefer to feature work provided by our outstanding membership. I do, as many of you, maintain a personal FAA web-page and continue to add both recently shot photographs as well as some from my past that have recently been processed. I have added many images from recent US road trips and will soon add a few from a current visit to Turkey. Because of extra time at home due to the world-wide pandemic, I have been post-processing numerous older photographs in my collection and have added a few to my FAA webpage. My site contains images from more than 50 countries and all 50 US states. I invite members of the group to visit the site when you have time. I enjoy any feedback you may have.
